One of the number one micro blogging systems Twitter went down tonight. According to social media groups no one really knows why. So do not freak out. Twitter seems to know about the problem and I am sure they are working on a patch as you read this post. I would tell you to check my Twitter page for more updates but hey all you would see is the whale…
Hang in there I am sure it will be back up soon.

Twitter in the Classroom
I was reading an article today which says that more teachers and professors are now using Twitter to increase participation in class or lectures. The increased use of smart phones and laptops makes this very simple to accomplish.
Professors who are using this Twitter feature in their class, say that it exciting because they are able to get more class participation from the students especially the shy ones.
This is possible because the classmates tweet questions or comments with their cellphones or laptops. Because Twitter is a real time feed these questions can be displayed in front of the class and answered promptly by the professor. Studies taken have shown that increased participation in class causing better student performance.
Another reason this activity is becoming increasingly popular in the classroom is that the Twitter posts help the students to discuss and debate about the lecture material. Most time this spills out of the classrooms that causes stimulated conversation between the students. These Twitter conversations also help the students to get to know each other and interact socially if they choose.
Skype is another social media tool that is now being using in some classrooms. They are using digit pals from other areas to help students learn different languages. The interaction the students have with their pals causes increased enjoyment and motivation.
Professors are also starting to use Twitter and Facebook to post homework assignment on their message board and answer questions about their classes easily where other people can share the knowledge.
Is this the start of education for the future? In times of recession when things are tuff, I think these tools are a good and inexpensive way for students and teachers to increase productivity in class and help to build the education system into the future. DigMe is helping the students to get a grip on the social media world and the communication skills of today.

Is Social Media slowing down…
I don’t think so! Recent data released shows that more time is being spent on social sites like Twitter and Facebook now more than ever. It even says that the regular user spends more than five hours on social networking sites in December alone.
Facebook is showing a wopping over 200 million users which takes up over 60% of the social networking communities.
It seems without surprise that the United States is the home of the most social network connectors clocking in at a huge over 140 million people. You can see more about these numbers, here.
I read a post today stating that even your large and small resorts are pouring tons of money into social media this year in order to boost their image and reach out to different demographics. Here is one by Vail Resorts for you to view.
I mean did you ever think you could see what some 1000 of your friends are doing in one day or how many times you may see @Rene in a sentence. Welcome to the world of social media. Hold on to your hats because it aint over yet!
