Scrapbooking Project Update – Finale

Months ago my cousins and I decided to create a scrapbook for my grandmother for Christmas. Little did we know that it would turn into this epic project including about 30 12 x 12 scrapbooking pages and 15 8 x 8 pages. Also what started out as one scrapbook quickly turned into two.

Although, we all felt like this was an epic project we put on. It was all worth it to see their reactions for our family Christmas party. They meaning my grandmother and grandfather, both really loved their scrapbooks and could tell that a lot of work, thought and love went into creating them.

I have tons of pictures to share from the scrapbook and some of the scrapbooking tips and tricks we used to create our pages.

Stay tuned.

What Has Happened To Me?

I know it has been a while since I have entered a new blogging post. Well, most is due to the fact of my being tremendously busy and not really working on anything in particular.

I am about to start a new scrapbooking project which I am really excited about. Dont tell anyone because it is supposed to be a surprise. haha I also have been engulfed in watching Big Brother on TV and talking about it a lot too.

Ok so between working, not doing anything at all and watching Big Brother, I have been very busy lately. That sounds like one of the dumbest, most lame excuses I have ever made. But it is the truth and the truth hurts sometimes… lol

Well I fully intend to post my scrapbook pages and ideas in the next few months while I complete this mystery project and I also intend to keep everyone informed about what is going on with me.

Back to Big Brother… I really hope that Reagan can pull off POV this week because after the Brigade betrayed Mattie, I am no longer on their side. Besides it is time for Enzo to take off his hat and leave the BB House because like Rachel said “Floaters Beware”. If you are taking score, he has won 0 competitions and betrayed the one person in his alliance that has gotten him this far. What a douche! Anyway, with all of that said.. I am now rooting for Reagan and Britney. May you guys prevail and end up in the final two!

Scrapbooking Video

I checked out this video today by swissgirl90 on Youtube. I really enjoyed watching her make this page. I never thought to use paint as a canvas for my scrap paper. I always just had to rely on the crappy themes available to me in the stores. She took reddish paint to make a background canvas and then she used white on the end of cardstock it looked like to make lines. She also used some good stamps and stencils to create some nice touches to the page she was creating. I also enjoyed the massacre of the sheet music to make butterflies. That was pretty creative. I really would like to know what that glue contraption was that she used. I don’t have one of those but it seems like it would be very a very useful tool.

I also enjoyed the music and the presentation of the video. The little things she was putting together on the side of her page in the end were hard to see but she provided a close up for us all to enjoy at the end. I think she is very talented and I hope to one day be as good. Thanks swissgirl90 for giving me some scrapbooking ideas to work with.

Organizing Your Scrapbooking Supplies

Organization is the best way to keep things in line when dabbling with scrapbooking. Especially if you scrapbook as much as I do. If you don’t keep things neat and organized with all the little items it takes to create a beautiful scrapbook page, you will lose items and or forget you even have them. Here are some tips I found that can help you to successfully organize your scrapbooking supplies.

Ways you can organize your scrapbook paper

  • Sort papers by color. The use of folders can come in handy.
  • You can also sort your folders by color in an accordion style folder keeper.

Organizing ribbons

  • Using a shoe box to store ribbons in may help.
  • Keep your scrap ribbons sorted by colors, maybe by paperclipping them together.
  • You can keep ribbon straight and organized by using a paper towel roll or other tissue rolls.
  • Small toolbox organizer can also work great for keeping ribbons sorted.

Stickers and Stamps

  • You can use picture boxes or shoe boxes to keep stamps sorted by themes. ( Christmas, Easter, etc.)
  • Tupperware heavy duty organizers can also be very useful.
  • You can put stickers in photo albums to sort them accordingly.

Scrapbook embellishments

  • Try using a spice keeper to sort your smaller embellishments.
  • Baby food jars or other very small jars also work well for this purpose.
  • Larger ones can be stored in a stand up tool box.

Organizing scrapbooking tools

  • This is another instance where a tupperware organizer can come in handy.
  • You can use very large shoe boxes for storing tools.
  • Over-the-door shoe organizers can help for storing markers, rulers, cutters, etc.
  • The tools in which you use the most should be stored in mugs, baskets, or buckets.
  • You can also use a workers pegboard to store light weight tools.

I hope these tips were able to help you organize some of your supplies or atleast sparked a thought as to how this huge obstacle can be accomplished. For more information on scrapbooking check out other blogs by Rene Uriegas.
