Facebook Messaging Systems Change

You may have noticed like myself that Facebook will no longer allow you to post a very long status update on your profile page. Last night it restricted my post to about 400 characters and forced me to put the rest of my message in the comment section of my post. Why this is you ask.

Facebook Messages combines SMS, chat, messaging and e-mail into one communication platform, announced since November. It takes away longer messages and subject titles in favor of shorter, quicker bursts of communication. Users will also have the option of inheriting an @facebook.com e-mail address for themselves.

I have also read that the email addresses will be (blank)@fb.com and not (blank)@facebook.com. These changes are scheduled to be integrated into our FB accounts slowly to stop the change shock. You know how evil it is when you are used to using your FB account one way and a change is made and you have to reassess how to use your features. For example, security setting changes. Is it me or has there seem to be a lot of these lately. Who knows!

I dont think this facebook email will end up replacing some of the other standards because of the restrictions put on facebook in the office. Most companies do not allow their employees access to Facebook on company computers because of the fear of lack of work that will be done and I can understand that. However, yahoo and gmail should not suffer too much because most companies allow these sites if any internet access at all.

We shall see what other changes in the future Facebook has for us and I will let you know when I hear of another change.

How To Make Foxes Appear On Your Frontier In Frontierville

I have been having trouble with this for some time.

It seems foxes love to come out when you do not need them for a mission, but God help you if you need them for the 15 fox mission. I have had this one open for some time and checked several forums.

It seems that the consensious is that the more chicken that you have the better your chances. One person posted that it helps if your chickens are of different ages.

I have found that doing the whole lot of them at one time helps. Not a few chickens here and there. Waste about 30 energy points on them at one time and cross your fingers. I have also hired friends with higher reputation levels to feed my chickens and this helps too because it is feeding them all at one time really fast.

I have to admit that this is one of the hardest missions to finish because a fox will not come out everytime you feed your chickens, guaranteed! lol

I hope this post helps you.

How To Unhide People On Your NewsFeed on Facebook?

To add someone or a certain page back to your News Feed on Facebook, follow these easy steps:

1. From the Top News stream, scroll down to the bottom of your News Feed and click “Edit Options.”
2. If you are looking for a friend, scan the list to find that person. If you are looking for a public profile, select the Public Profiles tab.
3. Click “Add to News Feed“to see their posts again.
4. Click “Close” to save your changes.

It is that easy. I was having trouble figuring out where to go and I figured that other people may have as well. I hope this helps out.

How To Make Status Hearts On Facebook

If you may have noticed some people are putting hearts symbols and things on their Facebook statuses or on their comments. How is this done.
Good question!!
It is actually really easy to do if you know the html coding to use. The heart symbol shown in the status and comment messages are not a gif image or jpeg, but its a html symbol. The only thing that you need to know is the html code which corresponds to the heart symbol. The html code corresponding to heart symbol is ♥ ♥ and you can have spades with ♠ ♠ diamond with ♦ ♦ and clubs with ♣ ♣

Social Media and Social Bookmarking Sites for Web Designers

Social Media and Social Bookmarking sites for Wed Designers.

With this day and age being so focused around social media. It is important to make sure to have the latest social news and web resources for designers.

Those web designers who like social media will really enjoy this, those who do not will still find them useful. I found a good article that lists some useful social bookmarking and news sites that are focused toward designers.

One of the interesting bookmarking sites is called designbump. This site is a lot like reddit, digg and mixx. However, designbump contains the most recent material for designers. This site is also known to have quite a few of the famous designers in participation.

Image Spark is a unique bookmarking site because you do not bookmark websites but you bookmark images and pictures you find. It is more in a gallery style design which designers can get some inspiration for their own creations.

design:related is a community site for designers that seeks to bring them together. Designers can set up a portfolio on their site, then they share what is inspiring them, and submit news to which members can vote on. This site is a very good source for those seeking ideas and inspiration.

zaBox, Design Float, Graphic Design Links and the Web Blend are other quality social bookmarking sites for designers to use. Some contain illustrations, typography, web design and illustration. These all contain very useful information.

Pixel Groovy and Ffffound are other good bookmarking sites. Found is a collection of images and inspiration for designers and not web links. Pixel Groovy has a large amount of graphic design tutorials available. I think that these sites are all very informative and helpful for graphic designers seeking the news ideas and information available in their field.

Has Facebook Made Dating These Days Even Worse?

I read an article post today stating that Facebook has made dating worse. I am not sure if I agree or disagree with this statement. I think in some ways it has made things a little more complicated. I think that the reality of this implication really depends on the persons involved. If you have an overactive imagination and do not have a firm grip on reality, Facebook could make things considerably harder for you.

For starters, the over analyzing can drive you nuts. “He did not post on my wall today, he must be upset with me.” “She commented on some guys pictures is she into him.” Things like this can really make or break a relationship on Facebook. Chill out a little when watching your new mates posts, stop reading little things into everything they say or do on Facebook.

Another hoop you have to jump through is problems with ex’s. Watch what you post on your ex’s profile because chances are your new girlfriend or boyfriend is going to see it. Also try not to be so lovey dovey on facebook for the world to see, you may be hurting the feeling of your ex or anyone else for that matter. Besides, what happens if things do not work out. You will have a record of every time you told this person I love you or miss you on Facebook for all of your friends to see.

All of your dating history on Facebook is now public. This can be good and bad. Good for those of you who want to let the world know that you are dating so you will not be hit on by old flames and bad for those of you who think you are in a relationship when the other party does not. For instance, you change your status to show you are DATING Michael Scott. However, Michael is not ready to tell the world that he is dating you. At this point Michael may think you are a psyco for posting your dating status so soon and you are hurt because he does not reciprocate on his own profile page. This can become ugly and end the relationship before it even begins.

Another snake to watch out for is other people’s comments. Don’t read to much into what other people say. Some people are okay with harmless flirting and others cannot handle it. Make sure you know which senario you are getting yourself into with your new blossoming relationship. Best of luck to all you lovers out there.

Facebook’s Most Recent Changes

Facebooks most recent changes.

Facebook Fan Pages are the first to change. Instead of you becoming a fan you now have to click that you like the promotional brand.

Stats show that people hit the like button two times more than they do become a fan. So now the fan wording and the like button will both give access to News Feed information from the promoting brand.

Another change is that Facebook statuses can now be updated through Yahoo Mail. You can also now import your Facebook friends information into your yahoo email address list. Now there will be a status update box that appears in your inbox for you to update. Also when someone emails you that is your Facebook friend, their profile picture will show in your email.

What does this mean for us. More features and more connectivity. Great!!!

Using Social Media To Increase Small Business

Social media and small businesses

Social media can help small businesses grow when used properly. It can easily help to gain exposure if the business is not worried about what people may say and let it be.

It is best not to pitch things to people with social media but to post about building relationships. Opening a post saying that you are a new business trying to gain as many friends as possible is better than posting about your goods are services because more people will respond to the relationship gathering. Be real as much as possible. Try to have conversations with your friends, this will help to build rapport and greatly increase your chances of success with social media.

It is ok to post now and again about your services or what is new in your company but don’t base every post on just that. Have some fun with your customers and let them know that you care.

People will tweet or post about your services as well. This is free advertisement for you that you do not have to pay ad costs for. Hurray! Just another way that social media can help your business grow. Customers are more likely to come to you from the suggestions of their family and friends than an ad they read somewhere.

This video goes into how to use Twitter for small businesses. Check it out.

Twitter Is Not Working

One of the number one micro blogging systems Twitter went down tonight. According to social media groups no one really knows why. So do not freak out. Twitter seems to know about the problem and I am sure they are working on a patch as you read this post. I would tell you to check my Twitter page for more updates but hey all you would see is the whale…

Hang in there I am sure it will be back up soon.

Using Social Media To Become More Prepared For Disaster

We can use Social Media to become diaster ready.

Most of the things we have been hearing about lately have been about earthquakes and hurricanes and tornados. Natural disasters make some of the best TV footage.

Social media should make it easier next time disaster hits you. The internet is filled with tools to help disaster preparedness possible.

I read an article today about Social Media and it’s tools to help us in times of disaster, you can read more about the article from Mollie Vandor here.

She describes that it is highly important to come up with an emergency response plan. The FEMA website can help with developing your plan from checklists you can use and even how to care for pets.

Another tool you can use is Google MyMaps says Vandor. You should be able to easily map our your exist strategy for hurricane preparedness and also share your map with your loved ones so they know your exact route. These maps are even printable so you can have them easily on the road.

Applications even exist now that will allow you to create ID cards for your family in case you get seperated or need medical assistance. Talk about Social media tools making it easy for us now. I remember when Katrina hit hard and the only way to tell what was going on was by reading spray paint on the side of your house. This makes knowing what is going on a breeze not a tornado.

Some other things you may find useful are battery powered charging devices for your ipod or cell so that you can stay online even with a power outage. You can find these types of geek devises all over the web now.

It will be easier for you to keep in touch with people that may have to relocate from disaster through their Facebook and Twitter now. Before you would actually had to pick up the phone and we all know how often those like to fail.

So social media tools should be making disaster planning and preparedness a little easier for all of us and reduce the stress of being stuck in that situation without the tools need to survive. Of course we all need Facebook to Survive!

So see more about Social Media Tools use can use to prepare for life, find more information by Rene Uriegas.
